Intrusive Thoughts

The hidden symbolism of objects in memento mori paintings of the 17th century has always fascinated me. As someone who has lived with obsessive compulsive disorder most of their life, I find a relation between the idea of death being represented in everyday objects to the way I live my day-to-day life. This series of work is made up of allegorical still lifes, figurative work and portraits. The Intrusive Thoughts series is made for others who have gone through a similar journey to mine. I want to help remove the isolation that may accompany mental health. In my experience, it helps to know you are not the only one who has gone through the struggle you are facing.
